BFRO Receives Handful Of Bigfoot Sighting Reports So Far In 2021

Will 2021 be an active year for Bigfoot sightings? It’s too early to tell, but the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization have already received four Bigfoot encounter reports this year. All four involve sightings in January, and all have been deemed “Class B” reports.

BFRO reports are sorted into two different categories — Class A and Class B. Clear sightings with no possibility for misidentification, often including the discovery of footprints, are considered Class A. Class B reports include sightings that aren’t quite as definitive, involving distant visuals or reports of strange noises.

1.

On January 10, 2021, Jonathon Parsons of Rockbridge County, Virginia reported hearing possible Bigfoot howls while at his cabin in the Appalchian Mountains just west of Collierstown.

The howls happened in the evening, around 7:00 p.m., the night before. Parsons noted they were distinct from the usual sounds of coyotes, describing each howl as “a very high pitched wail…that was in three intervals, each with a higher pitched succession, from the next mountain ridge to [the] east.”

The sound, he said, made the hair on his arms stand up.

2.

On January 23, a witness named Rick Bates in Humboldt County, California submitted a report involving a strange figure at the shoulder of Highway 101, south of Garberville, at about 8:15 p.m. The figure, Bates reported, was “laying on the shoulder of the road on its right side,” and appeared humanoid with broad shoulders and coarse brown hair. It also measured around 7 feet tall. Bates turned his car around to get a better look, but by then the mystery creature had vanished.

A follow-up investigation by Matthew Moneymaker noted that the location of the sighting was near the “Legend of Bigfoot” gift shop, but otherwise the witness was credible and definitely saw something laying on the side of the highway that wasn’t a deer, bear, or elk.

3.

A January 28 report from Okaloosa County, Florida involved a hiker who had stopped his car near Highway 85 to watch deer. What he saw instead, 10 minutes later, was a “large black thing” walk across the open field. It then vanished into the trees.

According to the witness, the figure “didn’t look right” and appeared “hunched over or like its shoulders were rolled forward.” Adding to the high strangeness of the situation, a “dismantled deer” was also discovered nearby. Smartphone footage accompanied the report, but it’s too zoomed-out to discern if the figure was truly a cryptid or simply a human in dark clothes.

4.

Finally, witness Tyler Bray in Menominee County, Michigan submitted a report on January 30, 2021. He was out hunting coyote with friends when they heard strange noises, which sounded like “wood knocks.” Bray later encountered two “huge glowing eyes” of a “yellowish bright color” in the darkness. Using his scope to get a better look, he discovered that they belonged to a large creature watching them from behind a tree. The creature reportedly crouched, moved to another tree, and then quickly vanished into the woods.

BFRO investigator Rich Meyer was able to gather more information, including that the eyes were around the size of bicycle reflectors.
