Meet the newest version of SpotMini, Boston Dynamics’ yellow four-legged robot that actually looks pretty sleek.
It seems a lot more advanced than their older robots, something I could honestly see chasing me down in a post-apocalyptic robot future hellscape. Exciting and terrifying, just the way it should be.
Unfortunately, we don’t know much about it, yet. The above video is more of a teaser trailer for whatever they have planned. The description simply reads: “For more information . . . stay tuned.”

I wonder, though: Are we heading toward a day when people will actually own robot dogs, choose your own color? How about robot guard dogs? SpotMini still looks a bit insectoid to me, so I don’t know how I’d feel about someone taking one of these out for a walk on a cold, dark night. But I suppose these things are always changing.
A previous version of the SpotMini looks like a dinosaur, with a long neck and I guess a mouth. It’s pretty weird:
