Hanson Robotics, spearheaded by one Dr. David Hanson, are behind some of the most fascinating (and creepy) human-like robots in existence. Now, Hanson has mixed one part Audrey Hepburn with one part his own wife to create a new robot that seems rather excited about destroying humanity: Sophia.
His wife’s named Sophia, by the way.
If you watched the video until the end, you may have noticed a curious exchange between the robot and its creator: “Do you want to destroy humans?” Hanson asked Sophia, jokingly, “Please say no.”
“Okay, I will destroy humans,” she responded with a smile.
Well, we’re doomed.
Here’s How Sophia Will Destroy You
All joking aside, Sophia is a pretty advanced robot. As you can see in the photos and video, she looks more or less human, and is able to respond to questions and, as Tech Times reports, emote with 62 total facial expressions. She also has cameras in her eyes.
One of the things I found most interesting, actually, is that she also smiles with her eyes, just like people do.
So when the robot apocalypse finally arrives, the destruction of humanity might be terrible for us, but at least the robots will be able to look happy about it.
