Project Starline Promises Video Chats That Are Like Looking Through A Window

So here’s something weird but definitely of the future: Google’s Project Starline, a new video chatting technology described as a “magic pane of glass.”

It allows you to speak with someone via video that appears almost as if they’re in the same room with you. Just through a window.

“Imagine looking through a sort of magic window, and through that window, you see another person, life-size and in three dimensions. Project Starline is a technology project from Google that combines advances in hardware and software to enable friends, families and co-workers to feel together, even when they’re cities (or countries) apart.”

I have a feeling the effect is hard to convey through a 2D YouTube video, but the concept seems like a cool one. Head over to Project Starline’s official website for more info on how it works.
