“Should we still be here?” he asks, as the hairy man in the woods shrieks loudly.
I wasn’t going to post about this Bigfoot video until I saw the moment at 7:50. It’s quite possibly the best cryptid footage I’ve seen this year. I’m not saying it’s good. I’m not saying it’s real. I’m just saying.
The video, uploaded to YouTube by We Do It Outdoors on February 2, is a bit plodding to begin with. The narration fills us in — on January 12, two hikers captured mysterious footage at Salt Fork State Park, east of Columbus, Ohio. “While we were there, we heard many strange noises,” reads the description.
The two hikers were granted permission to fly their drones in the area, and with the use of some GoPros they captured what they claim is alleged evidence of a humanoid creature lurking somewhere in the park.
Well, the video’s made headlines in national news outlets and garnered over 500,000 views, so it must be worth a look. Right?
The hikers speculate that what they witnessed may have been Bigfoot, or perhaps Ohio’s own local mystery cryptid, the Ohio Grassman (while similar to Bigfoot, the Grassman is reported to be a more aggressive local variety that enjoys building huts when it’s not out stalking the Clayton family).
The “highlights” of the video include strange noises, a pile of bones, an overhead shot of multiple dark figures standing below a tree, and some rather close footage of someone walking slowly through the woods.
“It’s the Ohio Grassman,” one of the hikers whispers to the other as he films. “Look at it! It’s not a person! Look at the hair! You can see all the hair!”
That scream, though. 7:50. Listen to it again. It’s the sound I make when I step on a Lego, or hear that Google’s rolling out a new algorithm update. A terrible amalgamation of both anger and agony. Or perhaps a goat. If this is Bigfoot, we must tread carefully, as it’s probably having a bad day and just wants to be left alone.
But the search must continue. On February 9, the channel uploaded an update on their escapades within Salt Fork State Park, featuring short news clips highlighting their footage and information on possible Bigfoot evidence.
A previous video on the channel also shows off their work exploding a giant pumpkin at Salt Fork, because apparently the cryptid living thereabouts, be it the Ohio Grassman or Bigfoot himself, enjoys the taste of freshly disintegrated gourds. It’s a tactic I’ve personally never seen used in the pursuit of Bigfoot, so points for effort.
