Well, it’s been a weird decade. I started a paranormal blog, wrote some stuff. I think it’s done all right, especially since I have the attention span of a gnat, and this the longest I’ve ever worked on a single project.
Well, here’s to another decade of Stranger Dimensions (technically started in August 2010, so we’re not quite there yet. But yes, it’s been that long).
Anyway, I thought we’d close out 2019 and the 2010s with a quick roundup of some of this year’s high-profile ghost (and not-so-ghost) sightings.
And here’s to 2020 being even stranger. Because I know it will be.
Spooky Glowing Orb Invades Porch In Roanoke
WSLS News 10 in Roanoke, Virginia received two bits of footage in October from an anonymous viewer. The footage appeared to show a strange orb gliding across a porch, bouncing around and changing shape like a glob of bright, floating Oobleck.
Describing the odd sight, anchor Rachel Lucas said it “kind of looks like a big old pigeon that’s glowing.” What is it? A ghost? A dancing insect?

Ghost Photographed At Baltimore Restaurant
Bertha’s Restaurant & Bar in Baltimore, Maryland is known to be haunted, to the point that it’s part of a local ghost tour. And wouldn’t you know it, in October we saw the story of a spirit captured on camera during one of those walks. The strange wispy apparition could be seen reaching out of a third floor window.
Allegedly, the ghost of a little girl has been reported there, and the area surrounding that window is sealed off. The image (with close-ups) was shared to the Baltimore Ghost Tours Facebook page on October 21.
A Ghost Orb In Savannah
Another October news report? It was Halloween, after all, the most wonderful time of the year for ghosts and phantoms.
Here we have a report from Inside Edition about another ghost captured on camera during a ghost tour, this time in Savannah, Georgia at the haunted Sorrel-Weed House.
The ghost in the image appears as a transparent white blur. A ghost orb? As the witness tells it, she also managed to see the orb in person, before snapping one final photo and getting the heck out of there.
The Ghost Feet of Louisiana
In April, a couple staying at the haunted Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana managed to capture footage of what may have been three pairs of “ghost feet” walking down a staircase.
According to the Daily Mail, two of the specters can be seen wearing white socks and “black buckled shoes,” and one of the ghosts even looked right into the camera. However, neither of the two witnesses saw anything at the time the footage was taken, and many believe it’s just a reflection.
Tavern Ghost Doesn’t Like Shelves
Ghosts seem to have a thing for pubs, hotels, and restaurants. In July, we got this footage from the Shambles Tavern in York, England.
According to York Mix, everything was going just fine on the morning of July 1 when suddenly a few shelves exploded, with boxes and glasses spewing out onto the floor. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Bar supervisor Luke Smithson was present at the time, and believes it may have been poltergeist-related activity.
Ghost on a Haunted Essex Pathway
In February, we saw footage of an apparition that appeared on a path known to be haunted in the village of Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex.
As EssexLive reported, a local legend exists of a ghost who wanders that very path. Some say it’s the spirit of a young man who was long ago “hit by a train on the nearby railway.”
Ghost Plays With Guitars in Brighton
The guitar shop GAK in Brighton, England shared multiples videos in May and June. One showed an alleged apparition, while the other contained CCTV footage of two guitars seemingly swinging on their own, as well as what may have been a ghost orb or two.
The activity caused their motion sensors to go off and, according to iHeartRadio, “a price tag was ripped off a Fender and fell to the floor.”
Welsh Councillor Takes Photo With Ghost
Jason Wayne Parry, town Councillor of Caernarfon, Wales, went to Facebook to share photos of his attempts to clean up the “dog mess” in the streets back in August. But in one of the images, people noticed what looked like an apparition.
The alleged ghost could be seen peering through a window in the background, and an enhanced version better defined the figure seemingly glaring outside.
Ghostly Apparition Leads to Panic in Ghana
A school in the Ghana village of Fumbisi shut down due to hysteria following an alleged ghost sighting in early October. A group of students at Fumbisi Senior High had encountered an apparition (described as a “strange object”) in their room while studying. The encounter was so terrifying that one of the students leapt from a window, and a few outright collapsed.
According to GhanaWeb, 19 other students “collapsed” the following day, leading to rumors that they had suffered attacks of a “spiritual” nature.
“Top Hat” Ghost Spotted at Mary King’s Close
In May, a group of paranormal investigators inspecting Mary King’s Close in Edinburgh, Scotland shared an image of what they believe could be an apparition.
The group, called Spectre Detectors, described the potential ghost as “a man in a top hat and long coat.” The Close is known to be haunted, and this particular figure was captured in the Close’s plague room.
