Hey, It’s A Brain-Controlled Quadrotor

Posted by on September 4, 2012

From the labs at Zhejiang University in China comes this remarkable brain-controlled quadrotor, which can be maneuvered using only The Power Of Thought.

Called FlyingBuddy2, the tech uses a wireless EEG headset to read brain activity, allowing users to control an AR.Drone, using what I’m going to call “thought commands.” Simply think right to make the quadrotor fly forward, or think push to make it fly up. Oh, and of course blink to take pictures.

While the primary use of this thought-controlled craft is to allow disabled individuals to interact with their environment in new ways, what looks really fun is the possibility of Quadrotor Mind Battles.

In the above video, the Duel of the Fates begins at about 2:09.
