Green Clouds And Moscow At The End Of The World

A mysterious green cloud cast shadows over Moscow yesterday, leaving many with fears of chemical spills and, well, a looming apocalypse.

Officials say it’s just pollen. A “large amount of pollen,” perhaps birch, to be exact.

But many residents aren’t buying it. Yesterday was the 26th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, and speculation has hit the Internet hard with everything from extraterrestrials, chemical plant explosions, and, of course, the end of the world.

However, according to Youtube user dsmurashev, who took the above video:

“When I came home I saw the pollen covered my table and other surfaces in my apartments. It was green indeed.”

Strange things happen. We could even slide on back to last November, when traces of radiation were found in the atmosphere above Europe. The fact that this is likely a severe case of pollen doesn’t make it any less weird.
