Flying Robots Perform The James Bond Theme

Posted by on March 2, 2012

This is both amazing and terrifying.

(Hey, so I’m suspicious of robots.)

A new video by the University of Pennsylvania General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception Lab showcases why robots will eventually murder your family with style, all to the tune of the James Bond theme.

“These flying quadrotors are completely autonomous, meaning humans are not controlling them; rather they are controlled by a computer programed with instructions to play the instruments.”

The flying robots, programmed to perform the theme song, bob up and down on what look like spatulas attached to a keyboard, bang on a cymbal, and tap out the melody on prearranged wires (otherwise known as the “couch guitar”). They even strum an actual guitar at the end.

It’s a fascinating performance.

No word yet on when they’ll go on tour.
