“If only it were just a nightmare…”
It’s one of the most profound, and real, phenomena experienced by people around the world:
The Old Hag Syndrome.
It consists of a night terror, during which victims are jolted awake, paralyzed, and filled with an unnatural sensation of evil. Often, they experience unexplainable noises and a dark figure looming over their beds.
Is it sleep paralysis, or a supernatural entity?
Whatever the case may be, a new production by One Eyed Dog Films, titled Old Hag Syndrome, has been inspired by this strange, global affliction.
“Annette Chambers has been suffering from the same reoccurring nightmare of her beloved twin sister’s death for the last twenty years.
While trying desperately to get her life in order and making ends meet by working at a coffeehouse with her good friend Tara Cline, she is approached by Alex Matthews, a cryptic stranger that warns her that her sister did not die of natural causes and she’s now in danger of being murdered the same way, by an ancient evil that dwells between dreams and reality.”
There’s not much information available about the film, yet, other than the above plot synopsis and a fairly interesting facebook page. It’s billed as a “psychological horror” and scheduled to release in 2013. And, according to the official website, a trailer is “coming soon.”
I’ll be curious to see how it all turns out.
