NASA has released an animation of asteroid 2005 YU55, giving us an even closer view of the nearest asteroid to pass Earth in recent history.
The above video, courtesy NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was “generated from data obtained by NASA’s Goldstone Solar System Radar on Nov. 7, 2011.” The asteroid passed within our moon’s orbit, at a distance of only 201,700 miles from Earth.
